Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about COGS tracking

How do I import costs from my supplier?

Export your supplier's price list as a CSV file. In StoreLyst, go to COGS > Import and upload the file. Our smart mapping will match columns to products by SKU, barcode, or title. Review matches, adjust any mismatches, and confirm to import.

Can I track costs from multiple suppliers for the same product?

Yes! You can add multiple suppliers per product with different costs. StoreLyst uses the primary supplier's cost for margin calculations, or you can set it to use the weighted average or most recent purchase price.

What happens when supplier prices change?

Import the new prices and StoreLyst keeps a full history. You'll see when prices changed, by how much, and how it affected your margins. Old orders keep their original COGS for accurate historical reporting.

Does it work with multiple currencies?

Absolutely. Enter costs in any currency and StoreLyst converts them automatically using daily exchange rates. Great for importing from international suppliers while selling in your local currency.

How are margins calculated for product variants?

Each variant can have its own cost. If you have a T-shirt in S, M, L sizes with different wholesale prices, enter the cost per variant. Margins calculate individually so you know which sizes are most profitable.

Can I export my COGS data?

Yes. Export all product costs, supplier information, and margin reports as CSV or Excel files. Perfect for sharing with your accountant or importing into other systems.
